Snowball was about 16 or 17 years old. He seems to have lost weight over the past few months, maybe longer. He has been tired as of late, but he was active in the last couple of days. He could climb, jump, or do anything. Today, he was tired, and he did not seem right. Some time later, I was in the kitchen, and Snowball came in, walking very badly, struggled, and staggering on his back legs, until he fell down. My mother and I thought he died right there, but after two or three minutes later, he came to. A few minutes later, he got up, but again staggered a few feet and laid down. He seemed to lose strength fast. He would just lay there, but he did not seem hurt. When he would try to move around, it was hard. Then, he tried to walk, but his rear legs would not move him, and the only thing that held him up, was a cabinet he seemed to fall against while trying to walk. He did get by the corner of the cabinet, but he fell on his side. He did move some a few feet here and there. I had my sister bring his bed down for him to lay in for more comfort. We could not get hold of a vet. In the next couple of hours (maybe less, maybe more) he would lose more strength, but he did manage to turn himself around a few times. He did try to get up a few times, but it was useless. He finally gave out a meow a couple of times. He again, just layed there, but he was sick. Finally, he started to bite on his front leg until I could hear what seemed like bones breaking. I yelled to him to stop, and he did, and then laid there. He moved his front legs a little, while laying there, and then meowed softly, but it was a hurting meow. He quickly lost his battle, and soon, was no longer breathing. We were not sure at first, as his body twitched a bit, but after a few checks, and what seemed like a few minutes, we saw that he died. WHAT HAPPENED TO OUR CAT? We are at a loss, and don't know what brought this on. If anyone could be of help, then we thank you very much. George.
