Given the seriousness of rabies, your girlfriend should not delay in contacting the public health offices (perhaps also animal control) in your city for further advice about what to do. Also she should see a regular human doctor ASAP - even though the bite is more than likely not rabid, infections can result. A doctor and the public health officials will be better able to help in a case where a human has had a potential rabies infection that a vet would be.

Please urge her not to delay in getting advice from professionals about this issue.
