>>I have a long hair senior cat. We never had to really brush her out when she was younger because she never got matted. Now since she is 10 it seems like her fur get more matted and we almost have to brush her out daily. Is this normal for older cats? Any comments would be greatly appreciated. >> Thanx
Hi, When is the last time your kitty had a checkup at the vet? If it's been awhile, it may be time. There could be a change in her medical status that could be affecting her grooming. Often, older or ill cats don't groom themselves as well as they did when they were younger or feeling well and their fur can get tangled and unkempt looking. Have the vet give her a base-line geriatric screening if you haven't already done that and if all is well on that front, then she just may need a little hlep with her grooming. ----- Dottie
