Special Diets for Feline Obesity?

My cat is almost 7 years old and he weighs about 27 lbs. I don't really know what to do to get him to lose weight. He currently eats a special food for a urinary tract infection (which I think is spurred on by tuna?).

Anyways, I've tried cutting down portions, but I can't wittle his food down to nothing at all! It may sound hard to believe, but he really doesn't eat much at all and he does not have any table scraps. However, I can't get him to exercise either. He sleeps and lies around most of the day.

Has anyone had any experience with feline diets or obesity? Could you suggest any special foods (preferably that would not interfere with his infection)? Or diets that have worked for your cat?

Thank you!

Allie
