They are too high in grains and carbyhydrates. I'd be willing to bet that if you switched to a high quality higher protein food, your cat would lose weight. Felidae and Wellness are both good choices. I've had good luck with Natural Balance and Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover's Soul, as well.
