I don't like to feed my cats wet food because of the gas it gives them and the way it makes their poop smell, but when I adopted my baby, Pandora, she was underwieght and wouldn't drink enough water, so I gave her wet food for a few weeks. Of course it gave her the bad gas, but when I fed her tuna and salmon flavors the gas was unbelieveably bad, especially with the salmon. She had an accident (a few pee dribbles) on the floor after I fed her the salmon kitten food and even her pee had the horrible rotten salmon stench.
Strangly enough, the salmon flavor was her absolute favorite!
I stopped feeding her the fish flavors of the wet food, even though she liked them best. Soon, I weened her off the wet food altogether. However, (as you know if you've read my other posts) she would eat my older cat's dry food, but not the kitten dry food. I tried several different brands of kitten food to find one that might appeal to her. My latest attempt was a "fish and poultry" flavored dry kitten food, that I started giving her last night. She eats more of that than she did of the others I bought, but now she is having that horrible smelly gas again! Could it be that she is allergic to the fish flavors?
