I know it sounds wierd but I really didn't make this up.
When I took my cats for their first vet appointment it they gave me a package of cat care literature and in this book Chapter 3
Called a Cats Care guide under grooming it say "Brush short-haired with the direction of the hair. Brush long-hairs first against the grain of the hair, then back again in the other direction". But that is all it says it doesn't explain why.
I'm thinking its a matte control idea.

I was just wondering if any one else had heard this or even does it too.

Just idle time thinking, LOL!
