RE: issue - HEAT?

My cat is doing the same thing, and calling like there is no tommorow, actually making herself hoarse. My question is someone told me that once a cat starts their cycle, they will go back into heat approximately every 2 weeks if not mated, is this true. I have never had an unaltered cat before so I am not real sure how it works.
