I cannot stress how important it is to feed your pets the best possible food you can afford. In the long run, your pet will visit the vet less often, feel and look better, and you will enjoy each other more!

Why? Holistic pet food have primarly all natural ingredients, real meat (rarely any by-products), and tons of nutrients and minerals to keep your cat at his/her best shape. They will absorb *more* of the food and pass less stool as a consequence (it will smell less too! Really). You will see an increase in energy as well as improved skin and coat.

Compare the first 5-10 ingredients of a low grade food (whiskas, friskies, purina) to something like Eagle Pak, Chicken Soup for the Cat Lover's Soul, or Merrick wet (they don't make a dry cat food). You *will* notice a significant difference in content and quality.

Primarily you want to seriously avoid any pet food with corn or wheat in it. These are fillers and nothing more. They are not necissary to your cat's diet whatsoever. Think of corn and wheat as cereal that will stick to your cat's teeth and create a greater risk of gingivitis and bad breath.

Also, did you know that cats and dogs have a 'sweet tooth' just like we do? They like sweets. So no wonder they will go for the 'bad' food every time. It's like serving your pet candy.

Lastly, please note that not all pets will eat the better foods we want them to. Yes, some pets do very well on low grade foods, even prefer them (re the sweet tooth factor). Ultimately they must eat! So sometimes it may be unavoidable to feed premium or holistic food.

Please read an article I wrote on this subject. Link below
