Hi There,

I find it a bit puzzling that the ER vet couldn't tell you if your kitty had crystals. All you have to do is spin down a urine sample, make up a slide, stain it, and put it under a microscope to tell if crystals are present. Just takes a few minutes and your cat was there for hours.......

Anyway, IF your cat has crystals the best diet would be one that would work to dissolve them. In this case a prescription diet would be best, at least for the time being. To my knowledge, natural diets won't dissolve crystals.

What I would do is take your kitty to your regular vet for a urinalysis to find out if he has crystals before deciding on a diet for him. If his urine is clear, you can ask about giving him a urinary acidifier of some kind.

Take Care,
PHKitkat
