Sometimes a bit of ovarian tissue can be left behind and cause the cat to go through heat cycles. Unfortunately the only option to stop this behavior is surgery, although she won't get pregnant because her uterus and ovaries have been removed. It depends on how annoying to you the heat periods are. It is probably best to take the cat back to the vet and discuss the situation with him/her.
