I took my 5 1/2 yr old Persian cat for a rabies and distemper shot today. When we were driving home I noticed the cat,Mat, was breathing rapidly and panting. When we got home he was very active to the point of hyperactive running from room to room and still panting. Even my other cats were looking at him strangely. I called the vet and they said to bring him back. Of course he had calmed down in route to the vet. The vet did hold him for several hours and he was fine. The vet told me that the usual reaction is fluids in the lungs or vomitting. He did not have either. The vey said next time he should only get 1 shot. The vet also said he probably was upset because of the injection causing a local irritation.Has anyone had a similar reaction of hyperactivity.
