In the net few weeks I will be taking my cat (Harley) to the vet for grooming services. He's gotten a little poop matty in places that I can't even get near without paying for it dearly.

Only concern I have is that he becomes The Incredible Hulk when I take him to the vet. It's always a very traumatic experience for him and he also becomes very hard to handle even for the vet staff. They have told me he's one of the strongest cats they have dealt with. He's also clipped the doc pretty good on a couple of occasions. 20 pounds of feline fury.

Does it sound like it's pretty much mandatory that he will be drugged for a thorough grooming? If so, is this a common practice? I'm not so wild about drugging him but if it will make it a much easier experience for him, I might be okay with it.

He's not a bad cat, he just gets a serious case of kitty roid rage whenever he sees the doc.

Thanks for any advice
