Hey, I'm glad your cats are doing okay. Like I mentioned, I'm not being harsh, I was telling you that I've seen VERY serious complications arise from people who give cats medicine without even knowing if it's okay for cats to have that medicine. Everyone here was only trying to convey the potential seriousness of your situation, it's your choice to think anyone is being harsh.

Until four months ago I worked in a veterinarian's office and I can tell you with absolute certainty that the dose you mentioned you were giving your cats, if the drug was indeed amoxicillan, was more than a cat dose. No, a couple of doses at that strength won't kill a cat, but given over the usual time frame that antibiotics are given, it can make a cat quite sick. I can also tell you that there are many, many medicines that people take, that even dogs can take, that are toxic to cats. So toxic that if you administer them it's pretty certain the cat will die as a direct result. I've seen it more than once.

But again, my real concern was that your cats had not even been diagnosed with anything, so you didn't even know what was actually wrong with them. Even a health clinic worker is not a veterinarian, and believe me, even with all the things I've seen in cats over the years, I would not even begin to try to diagnose my cats when they are sick. There are so many things that I haven't even heard of or wouldn't know to look for. Especially in purebreds. That's what vets attend school for years to learn.
