You have done the right thing by getting the cat to the vet. Since all checked out, perhaps you should take a close look at whether or not the cat has a good energy level, coat and bright eyes. Is he losing weight? Does he look underweight? If he seems to be functioning well and is eating, although not a lot then he may just be going through a normal phase. If he seems to have any other problems or is getting skinny then further testing should be done. Perhaps he has a food allergy and needs a special food.

Since he seems to want to play with his food, perhaps you could try feeding him out of a container that is a challege for him to negotiate. I do know that my cat prefers to pull the food out of the dish and consume it, and also that he prefers water out of a squatty glass rather than a bowl. Sometimes cats are quirky. Try some different bowls, cups, etc. and see if anything appeals to him.

Good luck!
