Have you tried elevating his bowl? I have had the same problem with Jacques, who is 2. I have tried many recommended remedies, none of which worked, but someone on some forum described how some cats may have dysfunctional esophageal sphincters/valves which enable acid to come back up or something like that. Since I've elevated his bowl to about 4-5 inches he has not vomited once. Good luck!
