Thank you very much for responding so quickly--and even on a holiday weekend! So I thought it might be worth it to post an update, though there isn't much new news to report.

So Sunday around 5pm we took Mochi back to the emergency clinic because she still hadn't improved. Appetite was still the same (about 1/4 can of Fancy Feast a day), her teetering walk, and general lethargy still the same also.

They put her on an IV, redid all of her normal blood work, and gave her an ultrasound today--she didn't eat while she was there. All the blood work came back completely normal including no signs of fatty liver disease. The results of the ultrasound were both good and frustrating: good because they showed nothing at all abnormal, frustrating because they leave us still wondering what's wrong.

We brought some food with us to the vet when we came in to see her today, and she ate right in the exam room out of my hand. So she's back home with us now, which is probably good as long as we can get her to eat and drink. We also have some amoxicillin that the vet suggested we give her.

Anyway, after the $1100 bill for the past 24 hours of care, we're still struggling with what to do. We're going to see how she fares at home tonight and tomorrow morning--see if she eats more, walks more normally, acts less lethargic, etc. If things get any better, then we'll be very happy and just stay the course. If they don't, we'll probably call her normal vet again and see what they suggest.

If we do have to call the vet tomorrow, I'm probably going to inquire about some of the more serious viral and bacterial illnesses (toxoplasmosis, FIP, FLV, etc.)... Is this a good idea or is it moving towards "shooting in the dark" by pushing for more blood work?
