Hi There,

This may be just a behavioral thing or it can indicate a medical problem, such as the inability to absorb foods correctly. Does your kitty have any diarrhea that you know of? Has he ever had a fecal exam done to rule out the presence of intestinal parasites? If not, this is the time to do it.

If this were one of my babies, I would make an appointment and take him in. You can't be too careful and you may find out something helpful.

I don't know what you are feeding, but there is a slight possibility that the food is not meeting your cat's basic needs. You mentioned that he is not fat, but is he too thin? This may indicate diabetes or thyroid disease, although both would be rare in a cat so young.

Please take your cat in and let us know what happens.

Regards,
PHKitkat
