Yes, cats do get asthma. I have a 3 1/2 year old cat who has it. He can't take prednisone because he also has a heart condition and prednisone caused him to go into congestive heart failure when first diagnosed with asthma. Not only that -- when prednisone works, it's a great medication. But it is also one that can have many side effects.

My cat is treated for asthma with inhaled meds. I purchased a chamber called the Aerokat (you can see it at www.aerokat.com) and he gets one puff of flovent twice a day. He is very good about taking his medicine, too! He always gets a treat afterwards.

He's doing really good on the medication.

I would highly recommend that you take you cat to the vet and have him x-rayed to determine if he does have asthma.

Best of luck--
