I am sorry that the cat seems to have continuing eye problems. It seems like you are doing the best you can for him - snow notwithstanding, you TRIED to get him to the vet promptly!

I was thinking herpes too, but since that's not the problem perhaps there is some other virus that causes eye problems like this. Allergies would generally have a clear discharge unless they got infected.
