My cats seem to shed more during the spring months. As for hairballs I feed a premium cat food (Nutro natural choice) ever since I started feeding the cats this they have not had hair balls. Though long haired cats tend to have more hairballs then short hair cats. They get hairballs when they injest their hair while washing themselves.. The better foods help break it down so they can pass it.
