I am a pharmacist and say first of all you need a second opinion (particularly because the vet didn't even take a culture, which I find odd). I would seriously check out this sulphur dip because I have never heard of it and unless you know someone that has used it and had a successful outcome with it be leary. It is cheaper to get the right remedy and give it once then to keep trying things you are unsure of, adding up to much more money and aggravation in the end. My cat has never had this problem so I can not give you any direct advice. I have had many other occassions to medicate Tilly.

I found a great new resourse last month http://www.apothepet.com/ that is cheap and gives Veterinarian or Pharmacist consultations for free, they even have a Holistic/Homeopathic doc on staff if that is what you prefer.

As far as any medication(and I am very aware of medication prices the ones you mentioned sound way out of bounds)This Apothepet Pharmacy can take tablets that are impossible to give to your cat and make them into a really tastey treat for your kitties. I checked on Safety, Price (they meet or beat anybody elses price out there)and quality of the product. I have used them once last month when Tilly had to take metronidizile (sp?)for diahrea. My vet ordered it and I had it at my front door the next morning, I couldn't beleive it. Tilly loved the tuna flavor and took every last drop and recovered very quickly. I couldn't have been happier.

It can't hurt, give them a shout and ask their opinion and also for comparrison prices you were given by your vet. I bet you anything you will be amazed at the difference. I was. They are kind of a new business and are willing to do whatever pleases you.

Hope this helps.

Chris Cielewich, R.Ph.
