>>Hello, Five days ago I got a young cat from an animal rescue non-profit organization. The cat is sick and came with some medicine. That cat seems to be on the road to recovery. The problem is my one year old cat stopped eating and started to vomit three days ago. Besides a slight lethargy there don't seem to be any other symptoms. She has vomitted once or twice a day. My question is when does this become serious enough that I should be thinking about a vet visit? I only like to use the vet when it is something serious. Could this be a reaction to having a new cat around? Anything else I should be looking for? Sorry if this is really basic, but I am somewhat inexperienced in cat health. Thanks for any and all input.

The vomiting could be caused by the new kitty, but from what you are describing, it does sound like the cat needs a vet check. The lethargy is the real heads-up here. When a cat faces a newcomer usually "activity" springs into gear as they try to negotiate a place in the hierarchy. I would say it is better to be safe than sorry and get the kitty in. Don't be surprised if it is all related to the new cat, but please don't take the chance that it isn't!

Smile, it will make them wonder what you are up to!
