When the body is failing, in my opinion that is the time to consider having her euthanized. The infection could spread as well, which could cause more serious problems. Right now it is about "quality of life"....is her quality of life impaired by her pain, does it make her eat less, or is anything else impaired by her condition?

You don't mention if she was put on antibiotics for the infection....if she has been, then hopefully that helps alleviate some of the discomfort. And as for exactly WHEN - you will know. When it is time to ease her suffering and take her pain and make it yours, that is when it is time.

My thoughts are with you.
