Posted by: gocatgo at Thu Feb 17 23:24:41 2005 [ Report Abuse ] [ Email Message ] [ Show All Posts by gocatgo ] My first cat ever was Samantha. She was given to me by my daughter, Pam and grandson, David, at a time when I was going through yet another divorce and was very lonely and depressed. They thought that a kitten would cheer me up and they were right! She was only 6 weeks old and they got her from a 'free to good home' ad in the paper. Pam's favorite color is orange (heehee) and she said that she figured that I'd prefer a female, so she called all of the ads in the paper and asked them if they had an orange female. And she found one, Sammi! Then she called me at work and told me to stop by her apartment on my way home because they had a surprise for me. When I got there, Pam and David presented me with a skinny little flea ridden kitten who was much too young to be taken from her mother, but I didn't know that at the time. I didn't know what I was going to do with a new little kitten in my life but as it turned out, she was the best thing that Pam and David could have done for me. I think that it was somehow predestined that I got her, like she was born especially for me to help me start a new chapter in my life. I learned so much from Sammi and we have really bonded to each other. In trying to learn how to care for cats and do the best for her, I took the focus off of my self pity and focused instead on Sammi.
