This is play behavior, he wants you to play. That is how kittens play with eachother, he sees no other kitten so he is demanding that you play. As for stopping the behavior, I have never had a lot of luck with that. Usually they grow out of it but I do have one that still does it occasionally even though he is 3 years old now. As for stepping on him, I think all of mine have had a foot or a tail stepped on at least once. They usually learn to keep the foot or the tail out of my way, except for Wicca who pretty much thinks I should keep out of HER way. If I step on any part of her, she attacks my foot with teeth and claws... makes her point pretty well, believe me!!!
