>>Momma's doing fine. Rudolph's still alive. But, mamma tried to kill the little orange one. I was also wondering if anyone had a recipe for a milk replacer.

RECIPES FOR KITTEN FORMULA
For kittens who need extra supplement
For kittens who don’t feel well
For orphan kittens

#1.
13 oz. water - heat, take off burner, then briskly add 1 envelope gelatin and whisk to mix.
Let mixture cool. Set in a shallow sinkful of cold water and ice cubes to hurry the process along.
Add 1 12oz. can EVAPORATED canned milk (not condensed!) - regular, not low fat
Add 2 tablespoons of palin live culture yogurt
Add 2 teaspoons Karo light syrup
1 - 4 eggs yolks, uncooked and very fresh. (No whites - separate and discard or use for another purpose).
Mix well with a whisk.
Pour into ice cube trays and freeze. (Spray trays first with Spam so the cubes come out easily.) Once frozen, pop out all the cubes of formula and put them in a freezer bag, then back into the freezer.
To use, take out 2 or 3 cubes and warm them in the microwave. It needs to be used right away. If not used within 30 minutes, discard (because of raw egg, sugar).
KMR with colostrum should be used for the first week of life. After that the formula can be used instead of KMR - the formula is also cheaper. With the formula, there is less problem with diarrhea - the live lactobacillus cultures in the yogurt helps.

#2.
For bottle or syringe babies. There is seldom a problem with loose stool with this formula and all the kittens who get it seem to thrive and grow as if they had a nursing mom.
1 Large can (12 oz) evaporated milk
2 Large cans (24 oz) water
1/2 cup baby rice cereal
2 Tblsp Light Karo Syrup
2 Jars Gerber’s baby chicken food
250 mgs Taurine (from health food store)
4 inch strip of Nutrical
(Add 2 raw egg yolks for use during the 1st 10 days of the kitten’s life)
Blend all ingredients well. Must be kept refrigerated, but not for more than 3 days. May be frozen into ice cubes and thawed as needed. Warm in microwave or under hot water before serving. Do not reheat more than 2 times!

#3.
13 oz. can goat’s milk
13 oz. Pedialyte (unflavored)
1 pkg. gelatin (dissolved per pkg directions)
2 eggs yolks (hard boiled; discard whites because risk of salmonella)
4 oz. Best Foods mayonnaise
4 oz. plain goat yogurt
1-2 tablespoons light Karo syrup
Put all ingredients into food processor and blend until smooth and frothy. Refrigerate for at least 6 hours. It will gel as it cools.
To use: warm up to just above room temperature in microwave. It will liquefy.

#4.
For a cat who is ill and not eating:
Make tasty cat goo with boiled chicken, yeast flakes, and a half a cup of porridge oats.
Add a generous helping of catnip and liquidize it all. Give a little of that at a time,
gently warmed (with any medication tablets crushed in it).
The catnip smell makes a cat want to eat it and disguises the taste of the nasty tablets.
