You may need to do some kitten proofing as he is small and can get about anywhere. Get some interactive toys like a feather on a stick to play with him with as well as some balls and stuffed mice. You may have to show the kitten the litter box several times before he gets the idea. If he has an accident put the results in the box and put him in there gently. He should catch on.
