Hello, I am 60, have had dogs, mice, birds, fish, and rats in the past. I am suffer health issues, can not work at this time. Living in a 26' trailer. Decided to get a kitten. Looked good. Need a pet companion.

I like this kitten. Got her at 8 weeks, now 10 weeks old. I thought I would watch her behavior, then pick a good and appropriate name. Something that had meaning, that described some charactistic of her. I thought of paws, sweetie, furball, and Fluff with paws, Miss Kitty, curly tail, and others. I have now chossen the most appropriate name, Tempest. It fits her well.

She does seem to have a mean bone in her body, but sher likes to use her claws. I now have about 50 1" welts on my belly and chest from her climbing or running onto me at night in bed. Or she claws up my shirt to sit on my shoulder. Ouch. From the first night she sleeps on my bed, thats OK with me. A foot or arm warmer.

Here is a kitten that climbs up the window screen behind the venitian blinds, then charges between the blind slats in pure attack mode, hanging from the draw strings by her teeth and claws. Incredible. Mice obviously won't stand much of a chance with her on their tail. (I had found 8 deer mice living in the trailer recently) She literally goes into beserk mode now and then. OK, when she grows up, I will buy some replacement blinds.

After I brought her home I found that she has running stools. Seems to be firming up some. She started using the litter box right away, but now is trying alternite sights for elimination. I was cleaning the "clump" type litter once a day, now twice a day. Its "difficult" to pick up her running stools and put them into the litter box, with her also. I do pick her up and put her into the litter box.

When she gets on the keyboard I say "NO"! loudly, pick her up and move her to the floor. This hasn't had much of an effect on her behavior yet. I also want my computer keyboard to be OFF LIMITS. How do I teach this to a kitten.

What to do? How does one disipline a kitten not to use her claws when climbing on me? SHE IS NOT DOING THIS IN ANGER.

Please Help
