My neighbor--the one we convinced to adopt the sweet little stray that appeared in our neighborhood just over a year ago--called me the other morning. She was very worried about Maggie, she said, because she was staying upstairs on the bed and not coming down for breakfast according to her normal routine.

I told her not to worry and that Maggie was probably just moving into her winter mode.

Well, we were talking this morning and she said Maggie was still lingering upstairs in the morning and she was still a little concerned--although she seemed to be fine when she ultimately did come downstairs. Then she went on to tell me how much they were enjoying their new electric blanket, and that she was leaving it on low until Maggie got up each day.

Mystery solved.
