OK - so I'm about 3 years late with my response!
We had "the" perfect cat in our Siamese Anna. When we knew her time was short I started doing research on other breeds because I just knew having another Siamese would be hard. I looked at all kinds of breeds online, read up on anything I could find. Came across the Tonk breed and loved the name first. Said it out loud to my partner and she said "Tonka Tonka"!
I started email breeders and we went to meet one who had a litter due any day. We got to hold and pet a pregnant Tonk, which was one of the neatest things I'd ever done. We got to see the kittens moving in her belly! So beautiful! Those kittens were already spoken for but the breeder knew of someone else who had a little ready to go home with someone. I called her up and the rest is history.
I love explaining the breed to folks who've never heard of them. And once they meet them, oh boy, they understand why we're crazy nuts in love with these 2 furballs!
We are Tonkaholics FOR LIFE!
