It's an acquired taste...

I asked my breeder once what separates the Tonks she sells as pets vs the ones she sells as show, keeps for show, or breeds...she said the head...ironically, the standard for show present more of the flatter Burmese face and rounder vs. almond eyes.

My Alastair is from her line of Regional winners...here is a picture of him, and below is her current champion well on his way to the top and below him a picture of Ali's father who was a show cat and one of her prolific studs...I'm sure you will see the difference in the face...personally I'm with you Cailin...I'm not a big fan of the flatter face...(although they are all beautiful)
