On another note: if you could only keep one modern convenience, which would it be? Mine would be the computer. I've lived without some of the others, but it would be difficult if I couldn't have my computer.

Good question! With allergies, I really need to have the washer, although I have washed many a shirt in the sink just because I didn't even have a half load to go in. Bedding would kill me so the washer has to be #1. But I love my computer - from contacting family to photo printing to budget spreadsheets, it has been a huge help in life.
