Not to be knocking on Cornwell's books, but her female characters are so good they are too good
====
I am in agreement. I am fizzing a little on her books. I read the first few and love them, then it just started getting too far fetched, I backed off... I did keep up with them, but toyed with dropping her from my reading list... She seemed to be getting it back by the time I read Trace (which I had decided with my last straw). I enjoyed it more than other recent Scarpetta books. I know have Predator, but haven't dived in to it as fast as I normally would on a favorite author... But, because Trace was pretty good, almost like her early Scarpettas, I am sticking in with her for now. Her female characters are out of this world... Like most male action heros in a big picture. Just saw the recent Die Hard. I can see Scarpetta hanging off the wing of a fighter jet along side Bruce Willis, LOL. Although, Trace wasn't as bad, which is why I am keeping with her for now. Scarpetta's niece Lucy is the most far fetched of all. She is right up there with the JAG star (TV show). Flys all kinds of aircraft, expert in so many fields, you roll your eyes...
Hated (HATED) the Hornet's Nest group of people, so only read one with that bunch and only stick with Scarpetta...
I much prefer James Patterson's Alex Cross books and John Sandford's Lucas Davenport books... Although, Lucas had a far fetched moment (job on the side) a few books ago, I ignore. Alex is true-blue, almost like one of us. Lucas is pretty close... ----- Tammy
