Well, you're probably all correct and I'm also just getting old and crochety but really do wonder sometimes. Yesterday, I'd tried on some skirts in a store. Afterwards, I took one to the girl who'd opened the dressing room and told her they probably wanted to pull that one off the racks since there was a sun streak down one side. She looked at me blankly so I showed it to her. She just looked kind of funny and then asked me what I said was wrong with it. I told her that the sun had faded it. She asked how that would happen (I guess, after all, there were no windows in the dressing room). Told her that fabrics would fade if exposed to the sun, like if it had been in a window display or even at some time packed and sun got to the exposed edge for a while. She shook her head, saying "no". I had to explain again that no one would knowingly buy that skirt in that condition and why. Not sure she ever believed me.
