Daisy Mae Dawg who joined the family when I was six after we (mistakenly) thought Grey Kitty had been killed by the fan belt when dad started the car one morning. Dad was desparate to stop us from crying, "Daddy killed the kitty!" so he brought home a puppy. Three days later Grey Kitty wandered home shaved from shoulder to tail (which was now broken at the tip) but not a scratch on him. Talk about disgusted when he walked in and found a DAWG! eating out of his dish!

Cat and dog became fast friends, and Daisy slept with me at the end of my bed her whole life.
