We've been fostering for a local animal rescue group for five years now. We take in orphaned kits, pups, and the occasional chicken. Our adult cats won't tolerate other adult cats but are very good with the babies and help to socialize them once they are out of infancy. Our dogs are pretty mellow and good with both the kits and pups.
The chickens are a bit more touchy, but that's because we keep bantams and have rescued full sized breeds. (We don't keep them permanently as we don't have space, but we keep them long enough for others to find people who will care for them.)
It works out pretty well most of the time.
Now, how about the rest of you? (I've never been the very first poster on a message board before. wow!)
