Hello!

I'm new here and I'm proudly owned by 5 precious queens Nala-8, Sadie-4, Dutchess-3, Jasmine-6 or 7, and Belle-recent stray.

Today I'm here about Jasmine. She is a stray that I had been feeding for about 5 years at my old house. I moved last Nov. and brought her with me. She has been staying in my basement until I could afford to get her spayed, which was June 6. That is when I found out she was felv positive.

She has always seemed relatively healthy and even the vet said her teeth were in great condition for a felv kitty.
Vet was wondering if she had recently been infected, but I don't believe that is possible. She is a little smaller than average and has never had a litter of kittens that I know of. She recovered from surgery just fine. However about 2 weeks ago I notice that under her chin looked swollen and I felt a little lump that can be moved easily. I called my vet and asked if she could just be fighting off an infection. He told me it was possible, but didn't sound encouraging, we decided to try antibiotics which do not seem to be helping. The swelling is getting worse.

I don't know what to do, she looks and acts healthier than she ever has before. She's eating fine, gaining weight, drinking, playing, bowel movements are fine(except when we first started the antibiotics), urinating, no discharge from eyes, no runny nose, and her coat looks better than ever. She seems like she swallows hard sometimes.

Could this be the begining of the lymphoma and is it because the surgery was too stressful for her?

This is so devastating because we have worked really hard at developing special bond. It took a few years before she would even let me pet her and now she runs to me and sits on my lap and purrs like crazy. I feel horrible because I can't spend as much time with her as I would like. I just wanted to give her a life full of love and happiness and I feel like if I just would have left her alone she would be fine.

Can you please tell me what I should expect?

Sorry if this has been long and confusing, I can't talk about this without losing my breath.

Sincerely,
Heartbroken
