My two year old cat, Stink, is currently on a trial of venison to see if she has a food intolerance. Her symptoms mimicked CRF but my vet opted to rule out a food allergy because of her age. Bloodwork was within normal ranges. Stink really doesn't like the prescription food and its creating lots of stress between my three cats at meal time.

Her activity levels/appearance have improved but she isn't gaining back lost weight on this diet. Vomiting frequncy has reduced.

She has always snubbed human food. Although I feed dry (I know - quit - we're working on it) cats are offered raw meat as I cook. Stink won't touch it; chicken, pork, beef -nothing. She will eat tuna and salmon.

Any suggestions for getting her to eat the vension? If I can get her transitioned to vension, I have access to frozen wild - is there any reason not to feed it to her? If not deer, then what to try next? My husband has suggested we feed her mice. Should we try it? How do I convince her to eat raw meat short of starving her into it?

Have to admit I feel totally silly - I have food allergies that have landed me in the ER. Currently I'm nursing and on a restricted diet in an effort to lower the odds the baby develops certain food allergies. Restructing the feline household for a food allergy as well...I'm being to feel like a nutcase who is projecting. What besides food intolerance might mimic CRF?

Purrs,
Elizabeth
