Posted by: ozarkcat2000 at Thu Aug 3 09:44:07 2006 [ Report Abuse ] [ Email Message ] [ Show All Posts by ozarkcat2000 ] I have a 14 yr old who has a low appetite. Of course I immediately thought, kidney failure. Vet ran complete blood work. Everything was in the normal range. 2 items were in the "high" normal range. 1 I don't remember, the other was the bilirubin (I think) as he mentioned that it would indicate jaundice, but Jeffrey had no yellowing and liver function was good. He did say something about autoimmune problem with his immune system attacking his hemoglobin, but he said he showed no signs of anemia (red blood count good). He said he had inflammation and steriods would be the treatment. Since Jeff is difficult to pill, he gave him a long term steriod shot.
