Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) is generally diagnosed through an ultrasound. I am not familiar with a DNA test. If the kitten is positive, it should be neutered and not be used for breeding. If positive, the cysts may grow with time and eventually destroy the kidneys, causing kidney failure. This does not happen in every case, and when it does happen, the growth rate is uneven. If the kitten is positive, there is a risk involved. If you are not willing to take that risk, select another kitten, one without PKD.
