We're also thinking of bringing him with us to Mammoth for a week, which is 6,000 feet in elevation. It's only a 5 hour drive from where we live, but since we're going to be gone a week we didn't want to leave him alone (his sister just died of a heart attack a month ago and he's never been alone before). My vet said that the altitude shouldn't affect his heart defect, but what do you think? A friend of mine moved from San Fransisco to Mammoth with her cat who had a heart murmur and her cat suffered from pancreatitis! Maybe I should just leave him home?
