I am not sure if you are talking about FIV or Feline Leukemia. Cats become more resistant to Feline Leukemia as they age, and cats over a year of age almost never get Feline Leukemia whatever the circumstances. FIV is a different disease. FIV in cats is similar to HIV in humans, but they don't jump species lines. FIV is generally transmitted through cat fights, since it must be picked up through open wounds. If the 2 cats never come in contact there will be no disease transmission.
