Aspirin, like all non-steroidal anti-inflamatory drugs, may cause bleeding, and thus should not be used for long-term problems. Omega-3 fatty acids often work as anti-inflamatories without the bleeding, so that would be a better choice. I assume, since your cat weighs 12 pounds, that you are feeding dry food. This is not good for any cat, especially a diabetic cat, as she should avoid carbohydrates. It is hard to say if anything would help the leg since I don't know why she is favoring it.
