He has always had some mild allergic reactions to vaccination, so, in general I try to avoid giving him anything I don't absolutely feel he needs. A couple weeks ago, I gave him a rabies shot after finding out there are rats in our building. I gave him benedryl to keep the reaction down, which seemed to help some. However, since then, and starting later the same day as the rabies vac, he's had 3-4 episodes where he's sleeping, and then I notice he doesn't seem to be breathing. I rub him, trying to get a reaction and don't get one...he just lays there, either not breathing or breathing so shallowly, it isn't noticable. One time this happened he had his eyes open, but they weren't really focusing. Then after a few seconds like this he looks ands acts normal again. It happened this morning again, and I picked him up while he was out of it and he was kind of limp and floppy. I'm thinking that he's having petite mal seizures, but I'm not sure. I will take him to the vet if this continues, but I wonder how they would diagnose a cat with seizures if they aren't really obvious grand mal seizures.... do they do a cat scan? What medications might they put him on? Does this sound like seizures to you?-- Jennifer [ Reply To This Message ] [ Subscribe to this Thread ] [ Hide Replies ]
