heres an update- its been a year and a half since my (now 13y.o.) cat recovered from Acute renal failure and he is doing fine. never had to give him any subcutaneous fluids. he eats, drinks, plays like normal. its nice to know that cats can make a decent recovery from ARF. i was originally told he wouldn't make it because after the first day on fluids at the vet he wasn't showing any signs of improvement... but i visited my cat everyday and by the next day he finally started to improve. i think the visits helped because i didn't want him to think i was abandoning him. so i'm glad i decided to spend the money at the vet on the "slight chance" that he might recover.

the vets in this forum were very helpful to me during that time and i just want to thank you guys for that!
