My cat (the love of my life) was just diagnosed with Lymphoma with spleen involvement. According to the int. med. specialist, it's not a definitive diagnosis which he said could only be done if we removed the spleen.
Basically, my cat, Sydney, 14 yr old, has fluid in his chest cavity (which is non-descript). An aspirate of the spleen showed 95% abnormal cells - lymphocytes - consistent with lymphoma.
The vet suggested Prednisone which he said gives 1-2 months remission but according to what I read online does not extend life. When I asked about chemo, he said we could try it but it's much harder on the patient - but typically gives 6-mo remission but is not as successful with spleen involvement.
At first I wanted to try the chemo and Pred but from what I saw online, Pred doesn't increase lifespan and chemo can really hurt quality of life and might not even work.
I'm working with a holistic consultant online (doing homeopathy and supplements) and have an appt with a local holistic vet on Dec 17.
I was wondering if you could tell me how successful holistic treatment might be at this point or if you would recommend chemo? If you recommend chemo, what might I expect.
Thank you.
