Found a stray female with 4 kittens last week. All treated with appropiate amt. of revolution at the time for fleas and gave them 3 day treatments of strongid for worms, etc. The fleas are gone and so are the worms, but the female will get another 3 day dose of strongid this weekend. Stools for all look worm free. It's just the females ravenous appetite that worries me. She eats non-stop. (Some rescue volunteers helped me with the meds and roundup.)
She wolfs down a 6 oz. can of catfood in seconds(paul newman organics) and crying for more. I also give her large portions of raw organic chicken steaks (meat, bones, organs, etc. with raw veggies). Her bloodwork was neg. but she's underweight at 5.5 lbs. The kittens weighed in at 15.5 ozs. and take organic baby food twice daily, along with milk from the mother. I keep them separate from my other 4 cats, but let them out occasionaly to socialize. Awaiting stool test results for all. The female is about one year old and the kittens 4 weeks.
Are there any other tests to determine why her appetite is so great? Even when I change the water dish she jumps on me thinking its more food.
Mike
