I'm not sure if it's a cough or not. It sounds like she has gotten water up her nose and is trying to clear it out and breath. It started when I got an electric blanket for my bed and she would lie on it throughout the night. If I put my head to her body I do NOT hear any rhaspy-rattling indicating a fluid in her lungs but that is what this snuffling/snorting/cough sounds like to me and it is still frequent even though I have discontinued using the electric blanket. It is not a cough coming from a throat irritation. The vet saw her eye-boogers and put her on antibiotics for a week but they had little effect.
She could find nothing else amiss with her or the source of the problem and, of course, Jools did not have an episode in the vet's office. I have since stopped allowing her to drink from a faucet(she always got filtered water in a bowl but preferred the faucet) and now she drinks only filtered water from a deluxe drinking fountain style bowl thinking that any eye discharge could be caused by excreted chemicals from the water she was drinking. I'm really concerned about the snuffling/snorting that she is doing for many seconds at a time several times throughout the day. Do you have any ideas what could be causing this and any ideas what course of treatment (or testing) to pursue next? Your reply will be much appreciated. Thank you.
