garters definitely musk. I believe water snakes will too but I've never owned any. I tend to agree about smaller snakes and invertebrate eaters being more likely to musk. Not sure true musking is normal for corns, mine rattles occasionally and pooed once but that was bad timing on my part. The smell was AWFUL!
Musking - garters, water snakes, ?
Rattle - rattlers and their mimics: corns, pines, ?
Hissing - pines, hognose, ?
Strike Posturing/Bluffing - most?
Play dead - hognose, ?
Biting - most as last defense
Spitting - spitting cobra
Camoflage - most
Bright Coloration? - coral snakes and their mimics. Red black and yellow isn't good camo? is it?
